TODOS Speakers at the 2016 CAMT

TODOS will present a strand of speakers at the 2016 Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching (CAMT) in San Antonio, Texas, June 29 - July 1, 2016.  Speakers organized by TODOS address the mission and at least one of the goals of TODOS.  For information regarding program, registration, and housing for the conference, consult the CAMT website.

TODOS 2016 Conference App

Are you attending the TODOS 2016 Conference? Attendees will have access to a web application, Cumulus, to access event information from any Internet connected smart device. Information will include agendas, speakers, attendees, transportation options, sponsors, external links, and exhibitors. Access to the app will be sent to attendees the beginning of June. Public access will be included in the June Enews.

Call for Presenters at NCSM in San Antonio

The Call for Presenters for the 49th NCSM Annual Conference is open. The theme is: Engaging in the Mission of Mathematics Education Leadership: High Quality, Meaningful and Relevant Mathematics for All. The strand descriptions and guiding questions are designed to identify some of the key issues and ideas that are important to mathematics education leaders within each strand. One of the strands is "Empowering Equity and Social Justice Leadership." Deadline for submissions is June 1st. Submit your proposal today!

Ethnomathematics as a Program

The ICME 13 Topical Survey, Current and Future Perspectives of Ethnomathematics as a Program, addresses numerous themes related to both ethnomathematics and mathematics education. It offers a broader view of mathematics, including ideas, procedures, concepts, processes, methods, and practices rooted in distinct cultural environments. The current agenda for ethnomathematics is to continue an ongoing, progressive trajectory that contributes to the achievement of social justice, peace, and dignity for all. 

Early Mathematics Resources

Inside Mathematics has some early mathematics resources new to its website. Instructional tasks for grades K-2 are now posted. These instructional tasks use children's literature-such as Mouse Count, Big and Little, One Hungry Monster, and more-to draw students into the mathematical content.  Each task is aligned with the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics; all the tasks are available for download by grade level.These early mathematics resources were developed by the Dana Center with support from the Noyce Foundation.

Elementary Mathematical Writing

The NSF-funded Elementary Writing Task Force announces a resource for mathematics educators: Types of and Purposes for Elementary Mathematical Writing: Task Force Recommendations. This paper offers specifics on four types and purposes of mathematical writing to further elementary students' learning. Check it out!
