A Collective Call to Action: November-December 2017

There is still time to read The Impact of Identity in K-8 Mathematics, suggested by NCTM as part of A Collective Call to Action. The two focus questions for this reading are the following: What are equitable instructional practices that support the development of students’ mathematical identity and sense of agency? How can we advocate for the implementation of these practices? The webinar for this reading will be held in January. Go to the Community Forum to participate in discussions.

Teaching Mathematics Through Social Justice

The New England Mathematics Journal (NEMJ) is interested in receiving manuscripts that illustrate the opportunities and constraints of social justice mathematics teaching from either a practical, classroom-based perspective or from a perspective of research. Manuscripts that address the interplay between theory and practice are particularly welcomed. Contact either Dr. Ferrucci, NEMJ editor, or Dr. Powell, NEMJ guest editor, for questions or to submit an article. Deadline for submission is March 15, 2018.
