Four Tools to Engage ELs in Math, for both the Classroom and Distance Learning is the title of the first June TODOS Live! session that will be held on Tuesday, June 2nd at 1:00 PM Pacific Time (please note the earlier start time for this TODOS Live! session). Teachers and administrators, your efforts during COVID-19 have been exemplary. Now, let’s get ready for the fall and learn strategies that are effective both in the classroom and remotely. TODOS Live! Wednesday, June 10, 2020

The final TODOS Live! session before the June Enews is titled Exploring the Shifts in our Students' Social/Emotional Well-Being. This session will be held Wednesday, June 10th at 4:00 PM Pacific Time. Educators will be invited to reflect on the changing patterns of human interactions that impact instruction. We will share how we are navigating social distancing and what we are doing to adjust to new norms in the school experience. Register soon!

2020 Recipient of the Iris M. Carl Teaching Award

Olga Torres from Tucson, AZ, is the 2020 winner of the Iris M. Carl Equity in Teaching Award. Olga taught for 35 years advocating for the “Rights of the Learner.” As a teacher, she created safe and nurturing classrooms that encouraged acts of trustworthiness from her students. Beyond the classroom, Olga changed the way teachers and researchers engaged in their profession and helped frame mathematics education as a humanizing and empowering practice. Join us in celebrating Olga’s selection.

2020 Recipient of the Iris M. Carl Leadership Award

Emma Treviño, a Collaborative Researcher for UC Riverside from San Leandro, CA, is the 2020 winner of the Iris M. Carl Equity and Leadership Award. During her career, Emma took on numerous leadership roles at the local, state, and national level, working tirelessly to impact students’ lives and inspire other educators to do likewise. Emma designs PD in innovative ways to make it a “Thinking Curriculum” and has helped support the Herculean task of de-tracking large school systems. Join us in celebrating Emma’s selection.

TODOS Part of NCTM 100 Days of PD

As part of NCTMs 100 Days of Professional Development, TODOS will be cohosting with NCTM four sessions, July 6-9, 2020 at 7:00 PM Eastern Time. NCTM has been celebrating its Centennial with 100 Days of Professional Learning with live 60-minute webinars presented by selected speakers from the NCTM Centennial Annual Meeting & Exposition program that was to take place in Chicago. Three of the four sessions were scheduled for Chicago. Register now and add these sessions to your calendar.
