TOODOS Board Member Changes on Sept. 1, 2021

Zandra de Araujo accepted a new position in Florida. She is stepping down as chair of the Advocacy Committee. Carlos Nicolas Gomez will complete her term as chair. Kyndall Brown stepped down as chair of the Professional Development Committee due to new and ongoing opportunities. Maria del Rosario Zavala will complete his term as chair. We wish Zandra and Kyndall the best! Welcome Carlos and Maria!

NCTM and NCSM

The NCTM Annual Meeting & Exposition in Atlanta has been cancelled due to the growing impact of the Delta variant and their concern for the health and safety of attendees, their families, and students. At this time, NCSM is still hosting their annual conference in Atlanta. They will continue to work with the hotel and local health authorities as they monitor the ongoing COVID-19 situation. The next TODOS Live! will be held on Thursday, August 26 at 5:00 PM Pacific with a Back to School Special: A Conversation with the TODOS Antiracist Position Statement Authors. This is an opportunity to have a conversation with the authors of the award-winning 2020 TODOS Position Statement, The Mo(ve)ment to Prioritize Antiracist Mathematics: Planning for This and Every School Year. Imagine Math Class--Videos

IMAGINE MATH CLASS: The National Math Festival, Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI), and National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) invite U.S. students ages 13-18 to submit a group video sharing their vision of the future of math class -- with youth, freedom, and color at the center. Submission deadline: October 15, 2021. Winning schools will be awarded prizes - learn more about the contest guidelines and how to create or upload your video.

TODOS is pleased to announce that a number of session recordings from the TODOS 2021 Virtual Conference are now online, and more will be added. These recordings are available to all who registered for the conference. To access the recordings, go to the attendee page and click on the red Session Handouts button. Your login and password are the same as your TODOS login and password. 

Philosophy of Mathematics Education Journal

The editor of the Philosophy of Mathematics Education Journal has announced that Journal No. 37 is dedicated to the memory of Ubi D’Ambrosio. It is available online and includes the article Memories of Ubi D’Ambrosio written by many of Ubi’s colleagues and friends. It also includes Ubi’s article An Essay of Philosophy of Mathematics and Culture, submitted to the journal in April 2021.

Disrupting Injustices: Math Educators in Critical Moments

Submit a manuscript for the book entitled Disrupting Injustices: Mathematics Educators in Critical Moments. This book will highlight critical moments individual teachers have faced by describing instances when mathematics teachers (un)intentionally create more just and equitable 6-12 grade classrooms or schools. This is your opportunity to share your experiences!
