COVID Protocols
Dear TODOS member,
A message regarding COVID guidelines for the upcoming TODOS 2023 Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico:
The last in-person TODOS conference was 2018. By the time we get together in June 2023, it will have been 5 years since we brought the TODOS community together under the banner of one of our signature events - the conference!
TODOS is committed to providing as safe and inclusive a conference setting as we possibly can. But we cannot do this alone. We rely on our collective responsibility to each other to create the kind of space we need. To that end, we are asking all conference attendees to plan for the following during the conference:
- Conduct a daily health screening prior to entering the conference space, which may include an on-site temperature check
- Wear a mask when indoors and not eating or drinking
- When removing masks to eat or drink, please be aware of those around you and socially distance to the extent possible
- We may revise as we get closer, and so expect to respond to changes
We also ask that attendees willingly remove oneself from a conference session if asked to by a conference staffer for not following these guidelines.
In addition to these guidelines, we strongly suggest attendees get the most recent updated COVID vaccinations or booster shots in advance of the conference, wear a mask if traveling by air or other close contact with others, and engage in other best practices to reduce COVID transmission.
TODOS is committing to providing the following resources for conference attendees:
- Masks, hand sanitizer, and thermal-scanning temperature-checking stations
- At least one COVID rapid test to take upon arrival at the conference
- Daily updates on reports of positive cases to all conference attendees
- Communication to attendees post-conference should there be any COVID transmission data to report
We recognize that each of us coming to this conference live with different levels of comfort in relation to COVID transmission. We understand mask fatigue is on the rise. We also know many TODOS members live with chronic conditions that elevate their risk factors for serious illness should they contract COVID. But most of all, we know that the TODOS community holds deep commitments to justice and collective responsibility. Together, we can keep each other as safe as possible.
With much gratitude to each of you,
Maria Zavala and Zandra de Araujo, Conference Co-Chairs, on behalf of the TODOS Conference Committee
