THE MATH FORUM PROBLEM OF THE WEEK

During the 2005-2006 school year we piloted the idea of translating the Math Forum's Pre-Algebra Problem of the Week into Spanish. If you have questions, please use the email link at the bottom of this page to contact Suzanne.

Using Problems of the Week

Information about the Math Forum's Problems of the Week (PoWs)

Every two weeks, the Math Forum posts non-routine, constructed response problems in four services including Math Fundamentals, Pre-Algebra, Algebra and Geometry. Emphasis is placed both on a clear and complete explanation of the work as well as the mathematical problem-solving itself.  We also offer access to all the problems we've used in the past through our Problems of the Week Library.

Technology Problems of the Week (tPoWs) in Spanish

The freely accessibly tPoWs are problem-solving challenges modeled on the Math Forum's Problems of the Week that take advantage of interactive mathematics tools such as Java applets, Geometer's Sketchpad, Fathom, or spreadsheets. Students are invited to use the link "Submit your answer" to share their solutions, and then "self-mentor" using specially designed hints, checks, and suggestions for extensions. At the present time eleven of the eighteen tPoWs are also available in Spanish.
