It provides culturally situated examples, each linked to Common Core objectives.

The Mathematical Sciences in 2025

CBMS discussed the recommendations from The Mathematical Sciences in 2025 with the desire to take some action steps to address the recommendations. One recommendation is to attract more women and underrepresented minorities to the mathematical sciences. The companion to The Mathematical Sciences in 2025 is Fueling Innovation and Discovery, a book that includes vignettes of mathematics in the real world.

CBMS Forum Presentation Slides Available

CBMS held a Forum, First Two Years of College Math: Building Student Success, on how mathematics departments can better satisfy the needs of all the students they serve in their beginning undergraduate years. The Mathematical Sciences in 2025 describes the broadening of the mathematical sciences and makes a strong case for mathematics departments to broaden their thinking about the pathways they provide to beginning college students.

MSRI Workshop on Developmental Mathematics

The Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) is holding its Critical Issues in Mathematics Education workshop on March 18-20, 2015, at MSRI in Berkeley, CA. The topic for 2015 is “Developmental Mathematics: For whom? Toward what ends?” TODOS members are encouraged to attend this workshop. To apply for funding from MSRI, you must register by December 18th.

Season Five of TODOS LIVE! is well underway. We have had great presentations and good attendance. Sessions have been recorded. We thank ETA hand2mind for their continued support of TODOS LIVE!

NCTM Committees Need Volunteers

TODOS members are encouraged to volunteer for NCTM Committees. List of committees and volunteer form are available at the NCTM website.

If you are not currently an active member of TODOS, we invite you to join or renew your membership.  Your support is important and greatly appreciated. Also, if you are joining or renewing your membership in NCTM, we would appreciate it if you would choose TODOS as the organization that receives the rebate that NCTM generously offers.

Work with TODOS

TODOS is an all-volunteer organization, and we depend upon members to do the work of the organization. One area where we could currently use some help is in editing our TODOS Live! recordings. If you have worked with movie files and would like to help in preparing our archived sessions for Teacher Tube, please contact Bob McDonald.
